Miscellaneous Improvements

Gated Entryways

The Illinois Renaissance Project is dedicated to providing an increased game day experience for all Illini fans from the moment they enter the stadium until the moment they leave. With that in mind, current plans call for improved entrances and exits to the stadium grounds.

Portal Entryways

memorial stadium renderThe austere iron fence currently encircling the stadium’s east practice fields will be extended to enclose Memorial Stadium’s entire perimeter.  Entrance to the stadium grounds will be gained via one of six grand entryways, each of which will be built into the iron fence and conveniently positioned around the stadium.  This perimeter fence will enable the east and west exterior plaza areas to serve as additional game day concourse space.  Once inside, fans will have free reign to all stadium grounds.  By installing the portal system, pedestrian traffic patterns will be improved and stadium security will be augmented, creating a much more efficient and streamlined entry and exit process.
